You will wake up at around midnight and begin your summit attempt. You will hike through the darkness and arrive at Stella Point, on the crater rim, in time for sunrise. From here, it’s another hour-long trek to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa, at 5,895m. After spending some time at the summit, you will descend back to Kibo Hut for a short rest and then continue your descent to Horombo Hut, where you will spend your final night on the mountain.
Horombo Hut to Marangu Gate to Moshi
After breakfast at Horombo Hut, you will begin your final descent to the Marangu Gate. This leg of the trek will take approximately 5-6 hours. At the gate, you will sign out and receive your certificate for successfully completing the trek. You will then be driven back to your hotel in Moshi for a hot shower and some well-deserved rest.
